Introduction
This week has been less busy than last week as far as writing goes, but a good deal more busy on everything else.
I did manage to get out and about, both at a car boot sale, and walking along the Severn estuary. Sorry, no photos for either – remiss of me, I know. Still, a new week starts tomorrow.
This Was The Week That Was
Every week starts on a Friday morning with writing group, and ends with me trying to ‘sweep-up’ all the bits that got missed during the week, on a Thursday. I am rarely successful at this, although always ensuring at least health measures, laundry and cleaning to hygiene standards gets done when it comes to the never-ending health and household tasks. Thursdays, however, do give me an opportunity to reflect through the day on what was missed, and what was actually done during the previous week.
The walk along the Severn estuary was a very small part of the Severn Way from Severn Beach under the second Severn crossing, a second bridge linking England and Wales, to halfway between that bridge and the first Severn bridge, where we (Sandy, ‘Doug the Dug’ (aka Eric) and I) stopped, sat on some steps, and ate our lunch. These days, because of different health diets (or being a different species) we have our own separate packed lunches. Fortunately, we chose Sunday for that outing where the sun was at its brightest and warmest.
Monday and Tuesday were spent working for the health centre, and squeezing-in a little more reading of ‘Shuggie Bain’ afterwards. It was particularly busy as one person in the office left, one has gone on maternity leave, and neither have been replaced yet, another person leaves today, another person was on leave on both Monday and Tuesday, and one person was off sick on Tuesday…full steam ahead on the fire-fighting front. Beyond that, Monday and Tuesday are collapsed in front of TV.
Wednesday brought supermarket shopping in the rain and my oldest son’s laptop for re-installing virus protection software and Microsoft Office, after it was repaired, following a crash. Today, I am, as I said, ‘sweeping-up’ and getting ready for writing group. The ‘home writing’ for this week was based on a response to a surrealist painting by Rafal Oblinski, an American artist, originating from Poland. Follow this link to view the painting.
My Response To The Painting
I wrote my response early in the week, which was initially only the first of these two acrostics, and then later added the second. I was hoping to go back and write something different, but in the end, this is what I am going with, and we will see what comes from tomorrow.
