So far, so good

A 'Bitmoji' image of the author bursting out as an illustration for the post
Created on the ‘Bitmoji’ platform by the author

Arriving here has been a bit of a journey via Wordpress for many years, and then Medium for several months. Each continue to have their own merits but, at least for now, this is my new home for writing.

Eventually, I will bring in some of the old, but hope to concentrate on more of the new for the time being, seeking to be a bit more “bloggy” about it all than I have been before.

I am an amateur writer who has written for many years. So, I take writing seriously, but I have never wanted to make it a career. I am happy to rub shoulders with the pros, but I don’t pretend to be one. I am here for exploration and personal contentment.

For the time being, I continue to be busy with employment and household tasks, so I will put in what I can put in, but would expect this to be a bit more of a full-time activity in a few years, when finally retired.

With Easter gone, and warmer weather on the horizon, I hope to be out and about a bit more, despite the continued active levels of Covid. If I can integrate all of that a bit more into my writing on this platform, so much the better.

As I get older, my cognition skills, memory and concentration are all taking a hit, but I will persevere with it, and accept that it might be that fewer people might want to read my writing as a result, but so be it. I have no need to be perfect, and no-one is paying me at the moment to do anything with writing.

My life is no longer about careers or parenting or partners as I am just a few years from retirement, my children are in their twenties and thirties and I live alone. So, I have less sense of urgency, and run at a slower beat than most.

My conclusion is that very few people will read what I am writing here. I am ok with that. I might try for a bit more pocket money once retired but, for now, I will kick back and relax my way into it.

You can always find my writing by following this link.
